National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) was established by an Act of Parliament to regulate higher education, and to guide the establishment of institutions of higher learning as well as ensure that quality and relevant education is delivered. After the amendment of the Universities and other Tertiary Institutions Act in 2006, it became mandatory that all academic and professional programmes in higher education institutions in the country be accredited. NCHE assesses these programmes to ensure that they meet the required quality, standard and are nationally recognition.

It is on this premise, that UIBFS submitted its professional programmes to NCHE for the accreditation. We have received official communication from NCHE that the Council accepted to accredit the following programmes for a period of five years with effect from 24th June 2013.

  • Banking Certificate
  • Certified Professional Banker
  • Diploma in Microfinance

This is in addition to the Master of Arts in Financial Services programme, a graduate programme run by the Institute, but awarded by Makerere University under the affiliation arrangement.

The management of UIBFS would like to thank the staff for the team work that enabled the execution of the accreditation process in record time. Management further appeals to the public to take advantage of this accreditation to register for these programmes. We are currently enrolling for the January/ February intake and as we move into the new year 2014, we pledge to continue offering competitive professional banking and Microfinance education and training to the Industry.
