The main objective of this course is to instil basic computing skills in order to fit in this dot com era. Students are trained on how to use a computer in an office, business or for personal use.

The Certificate in Microsoft Office Applications covers 4 core modules and 2 optional ones. The core modules include;

  • MS Word
  • MS Excel
  • MS Power point
  • MS Access

The Optional Modules Include;

MS Publisher; MS Outlook, MS One Note, MS Groove, MS Info path.

This Certificate will be offered every month. It is a learner centered course that offers flexibility in time and date of study. This course gives a wide and vibrant variety of course which have been carefully chosen to give any individual a good jump-start into computing.

To be admitted for a course leading to a Certificate in Microsoft Office, a Candidate must have a minimum of Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent.

Study Methodology: Hands on (Practical Approach) and Note taking

TRAINING SESSIONS:  (Inclusive of one hour of practice)

  • 09:00 am-12:00 pm
  • 02:00 pm- 05:00 pm
  • 05:00 pm- 08:00 pm

EXAMINATION: A practical examination will be sat.


The pass mark in each paper is 50%. A Credit if you score between 51% and 64%; A merit pass (B+) is awarded if you attain between 65% and 80%. A Distinction (A) is awarded if you attain 81% and above


Successful students will be awarded a Certificate in the names of "The Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services". No extra money is charged for the certificate.
